Miriam is the librarian in question, and a human. I felt like I wanted to be there, live there. And the best of all is the library, well, two of them. The plot is quite intricate and multilayered, as are inter-character relationships. The author’s writing is beautiful, fast paced, satirical, engaging, addictive, and her various historical references delightful. The story is satirical, and serious, and it is supposed to be romance but the only sexual element is the frustration, which is hilarious, then there are vampires and vampire politics. First the title, the title is funny by itself, but the way it fits the story is amazing. I loved this book so much I don’t even know where to start. It called to me, it wouldn’t let me be and once I picked it up, I was hooked from the first page. I devoured the book in a couple of hours and immediately moved to the next one.
